Mahindra & Mahindra Brings Out its Adventure Variant, Thar

<p class="article__title  article__title--single">Mahindra Thar is one of the coolest and the most badass vehicles released till date. It is the weapon of choice for the hardcore off-roaders. It is for folks who would rather feel the dirt instead of sitting comfortably inside the air-conditioned interior. It also retains the rugged look of the classic Jeep which says, ‘bring it on’ to any terrain.</p><br/>Mahindra & Mahindra is now bringing out the Mahindra Thar called the Adventure Edition, which will be a 30 units limited edition of this tough SUV. The Adventure version will be available only in CRDe Trim; seems like the company really wants to take it into the wild and get it dirty. It features tail lamp protectors, chaff screen, seat covers with black and orange stitching, extended wheel arches, molded floor mats and new centre console. This edition also adds 2D map support along with a compass.<br/><br/>Under the hood, the model is powered by a 2498cc motor that churns out a healthy 105PS of power and 247Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox. To give efficient off-roading thrills, the vehicle comes with a manual BorgWarner’s low reduction gear and a four-wheel-drive transfer case. Also, the ground clearance on this Thar is 200mm.<br/><br/>Even though it’s a limited edition offering, the Adventure Edition of Thar is not going to cost a bomb either. It is expected to sell at around Rs. 40,000 above the price of the regular CRDe variant of the car, which is a good decision by the company.

BMW Introduces the New X5 M and X6 M, Set to Debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show

<p class="article__title  article__title--single">BMW has lifted the veils off the new X5 M and the X6 M. The X5 M is the SUV while the X6 M is the company’s luxury crossover outing. The cars are expected to be showcased at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show. The cars are expected for delivery by next April. As for the price, the X5 M starts at $99,650 while its sedan sibling, the X6 M comes at a hefty $103,050.</p><br/>These monsters are expected to carry the same 4.4-litre direct injection V8 petrol engine used by the M5 and M6. The cars are expected to have greater power and torque, enhanced straight line accelerative ability and a slightly higher top speed. They will also have reduced combined cycle consumption and emissions. The cars are capable of shifting 100 percent of their power between the front and rear axles through a multi-plate clutch with torque vectoring. With the massive power under their belts, the monsters are capable of going from 0-60 in flat 4 seconds.<br/><br/>The cars will sport twenty-one inch wheels at each end, with 285/35 Michelin Pilot Super Sports up front and massive 325/30s out back. On the internal side, the cars get huge steering wheel which comes with aluminium paddle shifters. The seats get aggressive and racy. Harley-Davidson Rolls Out Three New Bikes for the Indian Market

The offering includes a performance cruiser Breakout at a price of Rs. 16.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is the latest addition to the Harley-Davidson’s Softail family of motorcycles.<br/><br/>The new offerings also include the hand-crafted CVO Limited, which is priced at Rs. 49.23 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). Along with that, Harley-Davidson also launched the Street Glide Special priced at Rs. 29.70 lakh. It is the first bike in the company’s line-up in India to offer a Hard Candy Custom metal flake colour, Quicksilver Flake.</p><br/><p class="body">Harley-Davidson’s Street Glide Special is a fully-loaded version of the popular performance Touring model, equipped with the High Output Twin Cam 103 powertrain, the Boom! Box 6.5 GT Infotainment System, a batwing fairing with splitstream vent and a dual halogen headlamp.</p><br/><p class="body">“We are reaching out to a lot of younger riders,” Prakash said. As Harley nourishes in India with rock music festivals and bike rallies, the new offerings would prove attractive to aspirational young Indians, for whom a motorcycle is more than simply the cheapest form of motorised transport.</p><br/><p class="body">“Motorcycles launched today have always had an incredibly passionate following here. These latest offerings demonstrate Harley-Davidson’s commitment to delivering a world-class product that caters to our customers,” added Prakash.</p><br/><p class="body">India is the world’s largest motorcycle market after China, but the roads are packed with cheaper models. Harley wants to change this scenario by appealing to the youth of the country, who are the biggest buyers in the two-wheeler automobile industry. LG has almost entirely killed the bezel - roll on the G4

<br/><br/>Just 0.7mm of tummy fat to go<br/><br/> <br/><br/>LG Display has moved one step further in its goal of creating a phone with absolutely no bezel at all, creating a display that only has an extra 0.7mm of space at each side.<br/><br/>Earlier this year, the thinness of the LG G3's bezel impressed - just 1.15mm to each side. But that has been slimmed down even further for this new screen prototype, due to enter production imminently.<br/><br/>It's a 5.3-inch screen, which it notably a bit smaller than the display used in the 5.5-inch LG G3.<br/><h3>Check out the tech</h3><br/>The obvious question: how? The new screen employs something LG calls Neo Edge technology, which uses an adhesive rather than tape to seal the circuit board and backlight. There's also no plastic guide panel, which features on other LG Display LCD screens.<br/><br/>A third measure also helps keep the display ultra-thin. AIT tech, as LG Display calls it, sees the touch panel embedded into the LCD display element, much as we see in Samsung Super AMOLED screens like the Samsung Galaxy S5.<br/><br/>LG Display says the screen is to go into mass production in November, and that it will be promoted to the Chinese market first. Because, y'know, they love giant screens over there - LG's own explanation.<br/><br/>To clear up any confusion, LG Display's screen units don't just end up in LG phones, but all sorts. Even iPhones.<br/><br/>However, it seems almost certain that we'll see similar technical moves made in the LG G4, or whatever LG chooses to call the follow-up to the LG G3.<br/><br/>The benefit of an even slimmer bezel is pretty obvious. It'll let you make a phone's screen slightly bigger with either a minor body size increase, or none at all. And as new models seem to be legally bound to offer bigger screens than the last these days, it's a relief for those of us who don't have giant hands.

Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3: Sleek, slim, fully metal (hands-on)

Side by side on a table, the two nearly identical rectangular handsets look innocuous enough and extremely familiar. Yet two things quietly make the Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5 stand out: their all-aluminum material and their unibody construction. Following the metal-framed (and plastic-backed)Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4, the A5 and A3 represent Samsung's first stab at an all-metal build, and the first of its smartphones to seal in the battery completely.<br/><br/>The square-sided handsets look and feel good, similar to the Alpha, or like smaller, more maneuverable versions of the Note 4. They're also on the light side and are noticeably slim -- in fact, they're the most svelte Galaxy phones yet. Another feature, called Wise Voice, helps keep volume levels constant for the receiver even if you're holding the phone away from your face. Sounds good in theory, though I didn't get a chance to test out either enhancement.<br/><br/>In terms of color, both the A3 and A5 will come in six shades. There's the usual black and white, gold and silver metallics, and the same blossom pink and light blue as the Note 4. As usual, not every color will be available in every country.<br/><h3>Extra themes</h3><br/>Android 4.4 KitKat is the OS standard for these phones, with Samsung's TouchWiz interface on top. In a nod to self-expression, a new take on the UI lets you apply four new themes -- such as "nature" -- that applies pre-selected images and ringtones. The A3 and A5 also have their own unique touch sounds that other Galaxy phones don't.<br/><h3>Supercharged selfies</h3><br/>The A3 and A5 may fall in the middle of the hardware spectrum, but they have a few fun new camera features dedicated to selfies, another huge trend we're seeing in smartphones.<br/><br/><figure class="image pull-none image-full-width"><img alt="" class="" height="578" src="http://cnet3.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2014/10/30/e6185172-0c00-4694-a143-3b7f0152ce13/resize/770x578/9922937e872cb81db458770264d9e300/samsung-galaxy-a5-04734-006.jpg" width="770" /><figcaption><span class="caption">The Note 4's rear-camera selfie mode is alive and well on the A3 and A5</span></figcaption></figure>It all starts with wide-angle selfies that shoot up to 100 degrees in portrait and a 120-degree landscape/panorama mode. The A3 and A5 also get the same rear-camera selfie feature first seen on the Note 4 (I really like this one). In addition, the airbrushing Beauty mode found in pretty much every Samsung and LG front-facing camera goes a step further here with effects to correct your skin tone and slim your face, plus one to enlarge your eyes. If you prefer to send your selfies <em>au naturel</em>, you'll have the option to turn this off.<br/><br/>You can trigger selfies with a voice prompt as before, and Samsung also adds the ability to launch a count-down by holding your hand in front of the camera. You'll have 3 seconds to get your palm out of the way before the shutter snaps to life.<br/><br/>Also brand-new is an animated GIF mode, which combines up to 20 pictures you capture by pressing and holding the shutter button. You can adjust the frame rate for 1-to-10 frames per second, and also tweak the GIF quality using a sliding scale. Quality on my GIF was choppy in my hands-on demo, and that's because it caps off at a 640x480-pixel video resolution. Sharing is also limited. While animated GIFS are shareable through a messaging app, it wasn't clear if you could upload them to social networks like Facebook.<br/><h3>Where can you get the A5 and A3, and for how much?</h3><br/>The Galaxy A3 and A5 will launch in Asia first in November (including China), followed by rest of the world. While Samsung hasn't released pricing or distribution details yet (carriers will likely do that on their own), look for costs of unlocked models to come in significantly lower than the Note 4.<br/><h3>Outlook</h3><br/>Once again, Samsung's approach of aiming its first fully metal devices to the middle of the market rather than the tippy-top is a different strategy than I'd have expected from the smartphone leader. It isn't an unreasonable position, however. Appearances matter, and with midrange specs largely on par with competing devices, the more premium metal may very well help the A3 and A5 stand out against rival phones.

Microsoft Outs its Fitness Wearable with 10 Sensors Onboard

<p class="article__title  article__title--single">Microsoft has just listed its new fitness offering on its official website. ‘Microsoft Band’ will go on sale today for $199 at the company’s online and physical stores, for US customers only, and in ‘limited quantities’.</p><br/>Microsoft Band is a 10-sensor fitness tracker which would last two days on a charge, according to the company. In addition to the obvious optical heart rate monitor, which is evident on the design itself, the new Microsoft’s wearable includes a UV sensor to keep track of your sun exposure, a galvanic skin response sensor to measure stress, and a built-in GPS.<br/><br/>Designed by Quentin Morris (who also developed the Xbox One controller), it comes with 18.5 mm band, which is made up of thermoplastic elastomer making it soft and quite stretchy. Oppo Brings Out the N3 with 16MP Rotating Camera

<p class="article__title  article__title--single">As expected, Oppo has launched two new smartphones today at a press event in Singapore, the N3 and R5. N3 has been touted as the most interesting ‘camera phone’ ever with a motorised swivel camera that can track objects as they move, and can rotate up to 206 degrees.</p><br/>The successor to the N1 fashions a 16MP motorized camera letting users track objects as they move. The sensor used by the camera is 1/2.3-inch in size and the pixel size is 1.34micrometer. The camera uses Schneider Kreuznach-approved lens that sums it up to an impressive level of quality.<br/><br/><a href="http://www.igyaan.in/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/oppo_n3_landscape.jpg"><img alt="" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-88222" height="299" src="http://www.igyaan.in/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/oppo_n3_landscape.jpg" title="Oppo Brings Out the N3 with 16MP Rotating Camera " width="635" /></a><br/><br/>The mechanized camera is super useful to shoot panoramas and taking selfies for example. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. USB OTG is also supported. It comes with  a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a nice 5.5-inch full HD LCD (the N1 had a 5.9-inch one), NFC and a 3,000 mAh fixed battery.<br/><br/>The N3 also comes with VOOC rapid charging with a smaller charger, which means you can go from zero to 75 per cent in just half an hour. The handset is now listed on the company’s China website with a price tag of CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 40,100). The company said that the handset’s dual-SIM variant will also arrive later.

Oppo Expected to Bring Out R5 and N3 on 29th October

<p class="article__title  article__title--single"></p><br/>Oppo’s much anticipated N3 and R5 are said to launch at an event in Singapore on 29th October. Previous generation R Series handsets are known for their slim and sleek design and the new R5 is said to be designed along the same lines.<br/><br/>Both the devices are expected to come with support of 4G LTE out of the box. If so, the new R5 will be the slimmest 4G LTE handset available in the market. The recently released teaser shows two devices behind the curtain. Oppo N3 features have been leaked by various enthusiastic Chinese mobile showrooms in past few months. GSM Arena had leaked some renders of what could be the Oppo N3, which showcases a cylindrical rotating camera design.<br/><br/>The leaked teaser doesn’t show the cylindrical rotating camera, also, it is not immediately evident if that is indeed the design of the other phone. The transition is expected to begin soon in which all the branding of Nokia will be replaced by Microsoft Lumia branding.<br/><br/>We had <a href="http://www.igyaan.in/77410/nokia-failed-microsoft-won/">reported this summer</a> about how Microsoft had planned to do away with the Nokia’s brand identity in its mobile business and seemed like the process has started. The French division of Nokia will be one of the first one’s to make the transition and adopt the “Microsoft Lumia” for its Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts. According to Survey, India Has Second Highest Number of Google Glass Owners Globally

After Acquiring Motorola, Lenovo to Become the Third Largest Smartphone Vendor in India

<strong></strong>New reports by IDC have revealed that Lenovo is set to become the third largest smartphone vendor in India. But only after the completion of its acquisition of Motorola Mobility is complete. The acquisition is considered one of the sharpest move in the industry for the Chinese company, which has previously made its name though PC sales.<br/><br/>“Presently, Motorola is at number four in India. And, we are expecting to close the acquisition by the end of the calendar year, which we believe make us the third largest smartphone player the in the Indian market,” Amar Babu, managing director at Lenovo India said.<br/><br/>Amar said that Lenovo’s smartphone business has grown by 200% year on year, much faster than the rest of the market. He added that Lenovo will build the Motorola brand the way it has built the ThinkPad notebook brand within the company.<br/><br/>The overall Indian smartphone market is expected to cross 80 million devices by shipments, up from 44 million a year back. Apple Brings Out the iPad Mini 3 with Touch ID for $399

<p class="article__title  article__title--single">Apple has confirmed the third generation iPad Mini featuring the new Touch ID fingerprint sensor during an event at its Cupertino headquarters. The device is identical to the latest 7.9-inch tablet and the iPad Mini with Retina Display that was unveiled last year. Apart from the Touch ID, it has the same Retina display with an aluminum coating at the back and will be available in gold, gray and silver colour variants.</p><br/>It features a 5 megapixel iSight camera  and a FaceTime HD camera and carries iOS 8 features such as time-lapse and panorama. This iPad features dual microphones, on the front and back. Instinctively, when you switch cameras from front to back (or vice versa), the microphones switch, too. iPad mini 3 promises lightning-quick Wi-Fi performance using its two antennas and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) technology. With dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi and MIMO, download speeds can reach up to 300 Mbps.<br/><br/>It starts at $399 (Rs. 24,574 approx.) for 16GB in Wi-Fi only, while the 128GB + LTE model will cost $729. Pre-orders start tomorrow and shipping starts by the end of next week. The Oxide TF and a new low-power backlight helps it use 30% less energy despite the large display and heavy resolution.<br/><br/>The base model runs on a 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics card,  has 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB Fusion drive. Apple Unveils the Super Skinny iPad Air 2

As expected, it is powered by the new Intel A8x Chip, a 2nd gen 64 bit architecture, which is 12 times faster than the current one. Apple claims that graphics performance of the new iPad Air 2 is 180 times faster, which gives console like gaming experience on the iPad Air 2.<br/><br/>The tablets will feature a fingerprint scanner similar to the one found in the latest iPhones. Apple Pay to Launch on 20th October

Apple had announced its first mobile payment system will launch this month. Today at the mega event, Apple confirmed it will begin rolling out the service next week on 20th October.</div><br/></div><br/>With the new iPhones, Apple introduces the NFC radio on their phones. With Apple Pay all you need to do for paying at stores is bring your phone near the payment sensor, and that’s it, your payment is done. Apple pay is available on both, the iPhone 6 as well as the iPhone 6 Plus. One display is a 720p HD LCD screen with a pixel resolution of 342 ppi. Information, like a missed call or meeting reminder, stays on the always-on screen until it is no longer needed.”<br/><br/>The device is brought to India in a tie-up with Jumbo Electronics. It is a leading IT, telecom and consumer electronics retailer and distributor from the UAE. The phone will go on sale on Flipkart on October 17.

Lenovo Brings Out Yoga Tablet 2 Series in India

The company has brought their Yoga Tablet 2 Series to India. In total, the company has released four new tablets. These tablets are Yoga Tablet 2, Yoga Tablet 2, Yoga Tablet 2 (Windows) and the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro.<br/><br/>The Yoga tablets are quite innovative and come in two operating system options. They will all be available exclusively on Flipkart. The Yoga Tablet 2 (8-inch, Android) and Yoga Tablet 2 (10-inch, Android) will come to Flipkart from Friday, October 17th.
